Before calculating quantities

Request a Consumption Review

Confirm the required fire rating, coating thickness and net package mass before estimating barrel quantities.

Tell us your required fire rating and coating thickness. We will review consumption and net packaging for your selected model.

Intumescent coatings · A qualitative guide

How the Protective Layer Forms

Intumescent coating expands when exposed to heat, forming a char layer that helps insulate the steel beneath.

01

Coating at rest

A coating layer covers the prepared steel surface.

02

Coating expands

Heat causes the intumescent layer to expand.

03

Char insulates steel

The expanded char layer limits heat transfer to the steel.

Practical Procurement Questions

Answers follow the five shortlisted products and existing Technical Support guidance.

What are the listed minimum orders?

SGHY: 100 kg; NB: 100 kg; NCB: 100 kg; WB: 100 kg; WCB: 100 kg. These values apply to these listings, not every product in the catalogue.

Where can I compare reference prices?

SGHY: US $10-10.5 / kg; NB: US $2.5-3 / kg; NCB: US $4.5-5 / kg; WB: US $3-3.5 / kg; WCB: US $5-5.5 / kg. Request a quotation for your quantity, destination and specification.

How should I estimate barrel quantities?

Confirm the selected coating system, required thickness, consumption and net package mass before calculating quantities. Shipping gross weight is not the net coating quantity. Request a project-specific consumption and packaging review.

Does one thickness suit every fire rating?

No single system is specified for every project. Technical Support asks for the substrate, exposure and required standard so thickness and system compatibility can be reviewed for the selected product.

How do I request technical documents?

Provide the exact model when requesting TDS, SDS or applicable test information. For fire protection, include the intended use and required test standard.

What should my enquiry include?

Send the substrate, interior or exterior exposure, required performance, model or coating family, quantity, destination, packaging needs and timing.
